課程概述 |
This course is designed to develop students’ English ability in various aspects of communication skills needed for research. These skills can be divided into informal and formal settings. Skills for informal setting include: email communication, chatting with researchers during a conference, short technical talk etc. Skills for formal setting include: Powerpoint presentation, and writing skills for extended abstract and paper for journal publication. |
課程目標 |
This class will be conducted in various formats – lecture, small group discussion, and presentation. Since each student is in a various stage of development in the skills described, equal emphasize will be placed on an individual’s progress as well as towards a “set standard.” |
課程要求 |
Students taking the course must have at least basic level of English ability since technical communication requires fundamental English skills. It is also good, but not mandatory, that the student have some research results so he/she can use the results to write the final paper. If the student does not have results yet, he/she can then simulate some results and write it up, but this approach is not as desirable. |
